Restoration of the French Ambassador’s Residence

The eclectic villa with monument significance was constructed in 1920 in Buda on the basis of the plans drawn up by Dezső Hültl, it currently serves as the residence of the French Ambassador to Hungary. The structures of the building are mostly original even today, but their maintenance and renovation of the years was not carried out properly. On the one part, the residence is leaking in several places and on the other part it was supplemented with aesthetically unsuitable elements that are not worthy of the building. During the renovation the entire façade was restored to its original condition and the existing doors and windows were renovated. We demolished the amateurish lean-to roof added to the building and covering the rear entrance, in its place we planned a point-clamped, tempered glass lean-to roof complying with the rhythm of the façade structure. The building was renewed inside as well. The bathrooms were adjusted in accordance with the demands of today, the floor surfaces were renovated, and the parquet flooring was revealed from under the wall-to-wall carpeting. The villa building was reborn, its spaces became bright, clear and fresh.
